Welcome this week's Friday Five! Let's get started!

  1. I'm so proud of myself for staying at least somewhat consistent with doing these Friday Fives. I have a million other balls in the air I'm trying to juggle, but this blog, to me, is like putting on a pair of well-worn slippers. This is my space, and I get put everything else away for a bit and find some comfort here. I truly love writing, and even though the majority of my posts are just Friday Fives, I love being here.

  1. One of my best friends recently asked me what books or shows I've been reading/watching lately. To be honest, I've been feeling really lackluster when it comes to finding something that speaks to me and catches my attention. So as a result, I've been diving back into my favorite classics. Throwing on Sex and The City just for old time sake, re-watching Hamilton on Disney+ five thousand times, and re-reading chunks of my favorite books that I previously devoured and can't stop thinking about. Sometimes when you're feeling overwhelmed and underwater with life, the Comfort Classics are the way to go. Cheers to the things that speak to our soul, even after the ten millionth time we may have seen it.

    3. This month on Instagram & TikTok I started a new series all about "shopping" from my own closet. I'm trying to challenge myself to pull pieces and create looks with items I already own, instead of looking for the next thing to buy. Especially during spring, every year I get this urge to want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for the new season, but it hasn't been something I'm really letting myself do this year. The series on social media has been super fun so far, and really well-received. The amount of comments I got from people telling me that they're also trying to do the same thing was pretty remarkable. It seems like in this economy, we're trying to find ways to tighten the purse strings a bit. If you haven't already taken a look, the content is posted on my Instagram and TikTok @followthecurve_.

    4. Last weekend one of my best friends and I went to a Broadway rave, and it was just as amazing as it sounds. It was literally three full hours of non-stop musical theatre songs playing in a room full of theatre lovers who were all dancing & screaming at the top of their lungs. Everyone there was just so happy & full of joy, it was so wonderful to be a part of it. And, of course, when Defying Gravity was played everyone belted it out at the top of their lungs. I got chills just watching everyone sing that masterpiece together. I swear it was the closest we'll ever get to world peace. They played some songs from musicals I had forgotten about, which of course, re-obsessed me with them all over again. There's nothing quite like musical theatre!

    5. Thankfully the weather is warming up - finally! - and patio season has re-opened here in Chicago. The other night my husband and I popped over to one of our favorite little Italian neighborhood cafes for dinner. The weather was sunny and in the 70's, and I swear every single person was happier because of it. The restaurant's patio was full, which was so nice to see. It really is crazy how everyone in this city comes out of hibernation after our long winters. It was just what the doctor ordered, and I'm looking forward to many more this season!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

XO

Megan
